Directed by Eliza Poehlman, the contemporary choir at St. Joseph's provides the liturgical music for the 6 p.m. Mass every Sunday evening. Composed of professional and amateur and professional singers and musicians including NYU students and graduates, they perform a large catalog of songs including Catholic favorites, contemporary pop, gospel, rock, and folk tunes as well as original compositions.
The choir and band welcome all parishioners high school age or older to join, no audition required; rehearsals are held Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information.
The Choir of St. Joseph is a music ministry dedicated to the mission of encouraging active participation in the liturgy. Directed by Kyler Brown, the choir performs weekly at the Sunday 11:30 a.m. Mass, as well as during Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas services and at an annual spring concert. Composed of eighteen talented and dedicated members, the choir is a mixture of amateur and professional musicians. It includes longtime parishioners as well as current NYU students. The choir’s repertoire is as diverse as its membership, ranging from traditional Latin chant and Renaissance polyphony and the twentieth century masterpieces.
