Dear Parishioners,
We celebrate our 175th Easter Season with the exterior of our church transformed by an extensive renovation, and with our Parish life flourishing. I am grateful to so many of you who help make our community the vital and attractive place it is. We, together, make the presence of Christ a reality in Greenwich Village.
The second part of the renovation of our historic Church, a thorough interior repair and painting, will bring our restoration efforts to completion. It is our earnest hope to be able to accomplish this interior work during this summer.
While we had hoped that funds raised for the exterior renovation would also cover interior work, a number of additional costs, caused by numerous complications, inherent in the restoration of a 175-year-old building, caused us to use all funds raised to complete the exterior work.
At present, we have several very good proposals for the restoration of the interior of the church, the total cost of which will be $65,000.00. Given the economic climate, many companies are bidding on this work, and pricing is extremely competitive.
I realize that this is not the ideal time to come to you, my generous parishioners, to make an appeal for contributions. However, may I ask that those who can, to be as generous as possible so we can bring this work to completion?
Your contribution of any amount will be most welcome.
Be assured of my prayers for each one of you. I wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
John P McGuire, O.P.
Pastor
